Moramanga, Madagascar

In order to get between the capitol and the Andasibe National Park, the road takes you through Moramanga. It is now a populated thriving city but it has a very sad and infamous place in history. The people of Madagascar were tired of the rule and exploitation by the French so they had a rebellion in 1947. In this city the French army loaded many of the locals and all resistance fighters into train wagons and then machine-gunned all of them.

Today it is filled with colorful rickshaws called pousse-pousse in French:
